English language is funny

I think english language is funny and complicated as well. How not? Example double “O” (oo) in english read : “U” , like books, read buk. Not frugal letters. Sometimes the same letters must be read different, example CUT (read: kat), while the PUT was also readable put, why not pat?. And then “AIR “ means AIR , puppy (read papi) means a puppy. If Buffalo (read bafalo or you father) means buffalo. If COW (read kau) means cow. will be read: Papi is puppies, bafalo is buffalo, you is cow. hahaha ...
Another example: if you want to say one book, in English is a book, if two books, have to say two books. Why we must plus “s” in the end? While the tomato if more than one should not be tomatos, must be added es into tomatoes. I know, if tomato plus ice(es) is a tomato juice...hehehehe..
